oil drip in driver's floorboard

I've just noticed a slow oil drip in the driver's side floor board. I've tried to find where it's coming from but no luck yet. Where is this coming from? Searching this forum, I've only found where TXBill made a reference to oil coming from the oil pressure gauge cable. Could this be it?

Thanks for any help.

The oil pressure line or the vacuum connection to the engine shut off mechanism on the injection pump. Either can fail and leak oil resulting in the deposits on the floor. On my 1982 240D the starting switch vacuum connections leaked, badly, and then became very soft and gooey. As it turned out the diaphragm in the shut-off mechanism failed and the vacuum system drew oil into the line going to the starter switch. Relatively inexpensive fix at the dealer and all works fine for another 150,000miles. To identify the source you might take the kick panel above the driver footwell down and look for the source. Good luck, Jim
