Question 1987 300 TD Rearend "Clunk"

This car has a "clunk" that is more pronounced when you drive easy. If you drive hard you almost never hear anything at all from the rearend. If you accelerate hard then back out of the feul is when you get the worst "clunk" from the rear of the car. Have had the car in the shop and replaced the axele bearings and according to the mechanic that should help but I see no difference. The drive shaft and all bearings are good.
