Impact driver to loosen head bolts?

I am planning to renew the head gasket on my car. But before that I did tried to retighten the head bolts after I found out that I have an oil leak coming out from the head gasket. I used a 6 point wrench and damaged some head bolts but not much. This time I will be using a 12 point wrench. My question is, can I use the impact driver to unscrew the bolts without damaging the engine block?

You can use the impactor to remove the bolts. I would HIGHLY recommend you find your local SnapOn man and purchase the proper socket for those bolts. I don't think it is your typical 12 point bolt. The SnapOn man has the exact socket needed for these bolts in a long and short version. Not sure about your car but on a '95 E320 you need the short version to reach the bolts closest to the firewall.
