1st time DIY oil change experience today

Followed Bill's oil change instructions (very well done Bill, BTW).

That HAD to be the easiest oil change I've ever done....it was actually kinda fun

Treated the beast to 8 qts of Amsoil HD stuff....only because I can't locate any Delvac1

Anyway....on a side note, I ohm'd out all the GP and they all measured about .8-1.0 ohms
So...not sure what the random stumble/misfire is for the first 5 seconds of idle on a cold engine....smooths out perfectly after 5 or so seconds.

bottom line....looks like I'll be doing all the oil changes on this beast myself for now on.

Chris,
Have you run the Lubro Moly Diesel Purge through lately. I suspect that will resolve any "misfire" you may be experiencing during initial start.

That's was next on my list now that you mention it. Wasn't sure if this would do anything for the misfire since it runs perfectly except those first 5 seconds.....
I was more interested in doing it as just a routine maintenance type thing. If it helps the misfire too, then that's just icing on the cake

Is there a potential connection with less than optimum glow plug operation in one or more cylinders? Seems like I read a plug not working right will cause a roughness for a few seconds afterward.

stephenson,
That is a good point. I have seen them measure out exactly as Chris said but be covered with carbon deposits which, I think, seems to make them a little sluggish. Chris, try pulling them out and cleaning them up. Also, if you have a glow plug hole reamer go ahead and clean the gp hole out too.
