Quick pump Q
Hi,
I'm leaking oil at the water pump. Gonna change the gasket. Should I just replace the pump while I"m down there, or is there some way to rebuild? Probably the original pump. Thank you.

sure, replace the pump. easy fix and not expensive. I think about $40 at the dealer for a rebuilt pump and maybe less at FastLane. I'd also look carefully at all hoses as well while in a "water" mode. Never hurts to stay ahead of problems.

oil at the water pump? is this normal?
I caught this thread beacsue on my 240 some time back i had an oil leak on the front of the motor that I thought was no big deal. Turns out it was a mount bolt for the P/S pump mount bracket that was loose and actually eventually fell out. This bolt it turns out goes through the bracket into the engine block and penetrates an oil passage inside the motor! Replaced this bolt and have not had a drip of oil under the car since. Clean the engine and look around good as the obvious may not be the solution...

it may be coolant. Its wet and black by the time it hits the ground, though that isnt a great indication!
I cleaned the engine the other day and the car started surging. Figured maybe it was just leaking vac. hoses. Replaced a bunch. Seems fine. Though I think there may be an electrival problem somewhere. Thats not good. Just replaced the alternator last spring. Oi. Nickle and dime.
