Indexing 123 CD rom into English

Has anyone gone through the files and indexed them into labels by renaming them into english like "Brake pad replacement" instead of the numbers they come with like "46-768"?

If you have do you want to share them?....Or would anyone be interested in doing part, and me doing the other 1/2 or 1/3, or 1/5 depending on how many want to share this. I've all ready done the owners manual and started on one of the long files (Yes there are hundreds of them and it will take a bit of work)

Or maybe there is just a better way to decipher the numbers and I haven't figured it out yet? Is there?

Any (123) 1982 300D Turbo owners with the CD's that want to get in on this?

Wow! Not much of a response

Guess i will do it myself then, like the monks used to do, day after day, year after year.

David,
I was searching for an index of the 126 C.D. and found nothing.
One sugestion I found on mercedes cx was to do a key word search with "find" in the acrobat reader, i've not tried it.

The 123 cd's I just bought on ebay ($11.50)had an index included. Click on the index, it asks for the year and model vehicle and then divides the manual into the various systems. These systems have sub-numbers but also descriptions of what is covered in that section. It seems to be quite clear and simple although reading the fine print on the screen can be a pain sometimes.

I vouch for that. My pi-rat CD for w123 has that type of index also, it is just slow to access.
I don't know if transferring the CD to disk will help.
No idea how to o that with win95.

Thanks Kerry....You are right about that process.

I quess I just wanted the information faster, rather than go through the Index "program", I wanted to look directly at the files and read the discription of what's in the file, not just numbers 10-102, etc, etc.

That's probably too much to hope for. Or more likely I am dense.

I probably don't even know what it is I want at this point.

Thanks again

Is this what you are looking for? MBZ.org has one:

123 index (That's it)

That's exactly what I was looking for. I was beginning to think I was asking for more than I deserved out of life.

Thanks for taking the time to help.

While it seems that the url was valid on 10/15/2002, it's not now. Anyone know where the link to the index is now?

In any event, if the index is no longer available, I, too, am interested in a faster method to access the 123 cd - the MB supplied interface it slow and clunky, and some information is not where one would expect. For example, information on the automatic climate control system ( as opposed to the older manual one) is not in the 300D tree but is in the 300TD tree.

I'd be willing to work with others on this project.
