What car are you installing it on, what type of climate control does it have? Have you thought about installing an OEM style block heater; they are supposed to work better. Another good heater to try is a magnetic one that attaches to the oil pan; I have used those and have had success.

opps i guess it would be good to at least say what car i have
this is going on a w116 300sd. i have an oil pan heater. its been known to have some problems in the winter last year. i have done my best to keep it starting tho. it seriously needs a good valve adjustment, but i don't have the time and place to do so. i will be changing all the glow plugs out soon before winter. i am pretty confidence it will start, but to make sure i just wanted to add a block heater. do the magnetic ones work pretty well? and where do u place it on the engine? if that works i would just get that, a battery trickle charger, and the oil pan heater. oh also i've been using cetane additives for the winter too. thank u for your advices |
