220D vac pump interchange question.

Will a newer-style single line vacuum pump (OM 616, to be exact) work on an old 220D motor by simply plugging the intake manifod port? It appears that the bolt circle is the same where it mounts. I realize it's not "original", but will it function correctly?

Trying to perform a "cheap" experiment with what's laying around the shop...

Thanks...

Jim:

Probably easier to just replace the diaphram than remove the pump. There were three vac pumps used, all bolt to the same hole, but I don't know if they are interchangable. Certainly the later piston type is NOT with the 220D.
