Hyd. Shock replacement

I want to change out the hydraulic rear shocks for the standard shock replacements. How difficult is the process? The old system is bone dry and does not seem worth the investment. Thanks.

the consensus seems to be that it is cheaper to repair the hydraulics than to convert to standard shocks and springs...
