water surge
Why does my engine surge (actually, lag) when it rains or just after I clean the engine? I've already replaced a bunch of vac. hoses to no avail. What am i missing? This cant be electrical can it?
Thanks,

It could only be electrical if you have a short that is unfused and drawing considerable current (feels like the AC is on) dragging down the alternator.

Peter,
That is what it feels like. But could the alternator drag on the engine THAT much? I mean, this is with a good head of steam in the turbo, too. I do know of a ground that is broken. Never seemed to be a prob. before though. I'll post a picture today. Paul

Paul:
The alternator will put out 80 A or so, and if you have a short when wet in an unfused circuit (like the wire from the alternator to the battery), it will take a large amount of horsepower to generate that much juice. More likely is an accessory dragging when wet, like the ac compressor. And don't forget brakes.....! Peter
