mechanic estimate 84 300 DT

This is the latest estimate my mechanic gave me for a front end job on my 84 300D Turbo.
PARTS:
(2)-ball joint -$67
(1)-center tie rod/w.w./-$50
(2)- tie rods- $88
(1)-steering shock -$32.50
(4)-mounts-$44
(2)-control arm bushing kit-$69
(1)- idler arm kit-$45
TOTAL- $396

LABOR:
Replace fr. suspension lower control arm bushings. replace lower ball joints and trailing arm bushings mounts. replace L/R tie rods and center link assembly. replace idler arm bushings and steering damper shocks. 4-wheel alignment to adjust to specs.

TOTAL - $487 (6.9 HOURS)

I KNOW HIS PARTS PRICES ARE HIGH, I CAN GET ALL OF THIS FOR $272. OTHERWISE, DOES HIS ESTIMATE LOOK GOOD. Don't I have to also include the upper ball joints and i read about a third( middle) ball joint?? What other parts am I overlooking in this front end job? I was also thinking of just having the ball joints done at the shop since this needs to be pressed in and out, then just DYI the rest with the help of my friends. Is this route worth it?
Thanks for all your help guys!!!!

I don't see anything on there that can't be a good diyer job as long as you have some basic abilities when it comes to this type of work. If you diyer you want to rent the ball joint press tool to do it right. Also, go ahead and replace the upper control arm - this will pick up the upper ball joint which does not need the press tool. You should be able to complete everything in one day. You will need to get it aligned by someone that knows these cars when you finish. Also, when replacing the tie rods measure the center to center on the ones coming off and make sure you put the ones going on back to the same c to c.
