Help with diagnosis

Hello everyone,

I have just completed the maintenance/repairs on my '87 300D 6 cyl and now am having a problem not present before.
I took the intake manifold out, cleaned everything good, installed new Beru glow plugs, changed the vacuum shut-off valve and in the process took the seal off the ALDA and very carefully gave it a turn counter clock wise to improve off the line performance. Checked everything, vacuum lines, connections etc. Started good, runs good but it shifts with a jerk on all speeds and the 3rd gear comes very close after the 2nd with a jerk that I never had before.
I tried to adjust the plastic nut on the modulator and gave it 1-2 turns in every direction and drove it slight improvements and delayed shifting but not good. When I gave it 1.5 turns CCW it delayed the shift of the 3rd gear after the 2nd but still shifted with a jerk. I put it back the way it was before and now it's jerking from 1st to 2nd, 3rd shifts almost immediately after the 2nd with a bump ( jerk ), 4th shifts at about 40 MPH with a kick. What have I done wrong ? Is this related to the ALDA adustment ? This car shifted a lot better than now. Fixing some vacuum leaks brought on this behaviour ? Please help.
Thank you all.

Marius

I think you probably have vacuum leaks some where in the system.
What kind of problems you had before making you did the repair works you described ?
If nothing serious, I would not touch the ALDA and the transmission modulator adjustments.
