Cruise Control Q 240D
 

Looking through the archives, I can't find anything exactly like the problem I'm having with the cruise control.

Sometimes, it simply won't engage. If I stop the car, turn off the key, and re-start, it WILL engage. Then is works fine (mostly, a little more surging lately). It'll work fine for several trips, then it will just refuse to engage, and I have to stop and re-start to get it to work.

Any suggestions, ideas on troubleshooting it?

Sounds like an amplifier problem.

Remove the circuit card that controls the cruise control and check for bad solder joints or cracked printed wires.

If this doesn't work after resoldering, you will have to replace it. Rebuilts are available for about $150.
