'73 280 Sd
I am a newbie looking for my first MBZ diesel. I was focusing the search on mid '80's 300's.
There is a '73 280 SD down the street with 80,912 miles on it. Body and interior look good. What is the collective wisdom on this model? What would be an appropriate price range? Will this car be out of my league? As a newbie should I stick with the search for a 300? Thanks. Jeff |
1983-1985 300D and be willing to pay the right $$ for the right car. There are some nice ones out there:):). Enjoy the hunt and don't be in a rush.

May I suggest a vehicle?
Before going out and buying a non turbo 300D or something like that, think about getting argueably the most reliable car in the world, 240D with a 4 speed manual. Just as much pep as a Non turbo 300D, with less hassles, and easier to work on! (maybe I am a bit biased) They are great cars, as are the 300's! Am I beggining to sound like LarryBible with my rantings of the 240D? If I am, I feel proud!:D

I had the kids in the car and was running late so I took a quick look and took info from the front but did not walk to the back to compare that info with the badge. I will out of curiosity, but it sounds like it is a gas model. I will stay the course on the 300D but I will also learn what I can about the 240D. I haven't seen any available locally and I am a little afraid of Ebay for this kind of purchase.
Thanks for your responses. Jeff |
