stalling, idling rough

This one has me a little worried. Many people here talk about the rough idling of their cars (mine is a 1980 300SD). Mine has been doing that and I have contemplated trying the dampener screw.

Today though it is stalling out. It will idle not too bad in neutral or park, but drive with the brake applied - it stalls.

Hoping this isn't as bad as I think it could be.

Seems like it may have lost some power as well lately.

A couple of things to mention. I have recently used some diesel fuel additive. I went to LA from Las Vegas and back on it so I do not think that is a major issue.

I also put some injector/carb cleaner in the tank. It had stalled before that today so I do not think that is major either, but thought I would mention it. The guy at the store said it was fine for diesels even though it did not specifically say it was ok for them. Was this wrong? Again, it had stalled before this.

Top off the tank with fuel from a high volume station. Swap out the fuel filters and check the fuel lines. These could be your issue and they are an easy fix.

Stick with diesel additives.

Just in case anyone ever wonders what was up here. A combo of things. Clogged fuel filters, lines, leaking fuel return lines. Also going to get a valve adjustment (none in 100k).
