Oil Puddle
I recently put my SD in the garage for the winter. I went out about a week after I parked and looked under the car. A oil puddle had formed under the oil pan I had never noticed any oil leaks on the ground before. I change the oil every 3000 with Rotella. I never have to add any oil and usually the oil is on the halfway mark between the full and the low mark after 3000. Is this something I should worry about or is it okay to leak some oil. The car now has 206,000 I just recently received my 250,000km mileage award. It is worth the small amount of effort it takes to get it.

I would at least try to determine where it is coming from. May be an easy fix.

Get under the car and clean it off so you can see where the leak is coming from. It's the only way I have been able to diagnose leaks. Probably not a big deal, but until you know for sure, I would start hunting for the source and the best way to go is with a clean start.

I looked for the source of the puddle. It seems to be coming from above the oil pan. Could it be the oil cooler lines? My mechanic had stated that the car had some oil seapage when I took it in for the last valve adjustment. He said not to worry about it. He stated that all those old diesels leak some oil. I am still worried. Also the car surges at idle blowing out puffs of blue grey smoke that smells like diesel. Mechanic said this has something to do with the fuel mixture. I adjusted the ALDA a long time ago does this put excessive wear on the injector pump.
