Question 300 TD stick shift

Hello,

I am wondering if there were any 300 TD made with stick shift? I thought I was reading on this forum that they were all automatic, but friend of mine thought he saw one for sale with stick shift...

I believe that they are all automatics, even in Europe I think most of them were automatics. However, I believe there are a few 300TD's out there that have been converted to a manual transmission. They did make the 300D with a manual transmission, but these were never U.S. cars. Most 300D's with a manual transmission will be a grey maket car, unless it's one that has been converted.

The gray market or euro car that 123c is referring to...

is the 240TE I believe...it's got a 4 cylinder gas engine and I've seen a number of those with manual transmissions in books and on the internet. The ones I've seen are relatively stripped compared to the US cars: no A/C, crank windows, no cruise control, etc.

Don't forget the 240TD 4 and 5 speeds. Sold in europe only. There was never a turbocharged diesel with a manual transmission sold anywhere in the world by MB.

In Europe, turbocharged diesel MB's are common, E220 CDi's and such.

I thought the G-Wagen was offered with a 4sp (5sp?) gearbox and a 617 turbo? I could easily be wrong, but still...

A 5sp with overdrive would be very nice

I think turbodiesel was referring to passenger cars.

Have a great day,

There's been a euro 240TD manny tranny and a 250TD manny tranny for sale in the last couple years on Autotrader. (I think the 250 is still listed on Canadian Autotrader). The 250TD was a 123 body with a 190D engine (I think it was a 1985). No manny tranny TDs were imported by MBUSA.

I tried to buy the 240TD--it was in Oregon and I wanted a PPI, but the owner sold it locally before I could get the PPI done.

Locally here (in Michigan) there's a 280TE with a manny tranny, maybe an 82 or 83.
