Question

1985300SD engine & transmision in to1979300SD

its posible to instal a engine & transmission of a 1985 300 SD on to 1979 300SD(w116) ? the shiftter, the suports, harneses and etc fits ? thanks & sorry gramatics.

You should be able to make it work; just make sure that the transmission from the 1985 300SD is the same length as the 1979 300SD. If the transmission is still good on the 1979, you should try keeping that one because it is better than the 1985.

The 85 tranny has an inductive speedo drive, the 79 speedo has a mechanical drive.
