Sounds like you have most everything covered. I would inspect the rack dampener bolt and see what kind of condition it is in. Do a search on "rack dampener" or "rack damper".

loping!!!!!

Finally finished replacing my timing chain on my 84 300DTD (see post about this if interested, lots of good info on how to do it). Also removed and tested injectors, adjusted valves and cleaned alda tubing and fittings. I still have the same problem I started with.....the car runs much better cold than warm. It runs fairly smooth when cold, but after it warms up, it starts to lope like mad, no smooth idle at all. Does anyone have any ideas??????
at wits end on this.

Did you check the timing? Timing is very important and can make of world of difference.
