Yeah, I got lubrication issues. Go ahead, just try and take the grease gun away from me! You would believe how long it takes me to clean and oil firearms. I'm sorta "obsessive" about the maintence of fine machinery. My wife thinks I'm nuts too. I hear the "therapy" thing all the time. RT

OK, RW , I accept your admission... how about listing all the brand names/descriptions you use in your life with regards to both cleaning and lubricating machines ?.... I assume you have studied this for a long while.....

Aaron's post brings a thought to mind. I expect that one reason that the car makers have moved away from grease fittings is that as Aaron pointed out, not everyone keeps up with them. For those who don't want to mess with it, they are providing a longer lasting suspension.

If you really are bent on greasing, it would not be a huge deal to drill and tap the parts and put in grease zerks.

Good luck,

On the guns-
RemOil, Amsoil Metal Protectant, Hoppes #9 Haven't found anything that works better than these.
On the cars-
Amsoil Metal Protectant-way better than WD40 but pricey.
Delo synthetic-good syn alternative for cheap.
Mobil1 grease-use it on everything, cheap, readily available.
Mobil1 atf & gear lube-same thing.
Royal Purple-seems okay, they were out of Mobil1 that day.
NuFinish-works great for a fast shine on big stuff like my truck.
Meguires-very good product
Mothers-ditto
Misc.
Flitz-awesome metal polish.
CorrosionX-You can spray circuit boards with this stuff and dunk 'em in saltwater and they still work!! Pricey but worth it.
Rotella ELC-just started using it.
Amsoil Heavy Metal Protectant-heavy enough to use as rustproofing.....
Stanadyne Blue-best fuel additive made!
Howes Lubricator-I like the name and it seems okay.
Fast Orange-Easier on the skin but sucks, I am going back to Gojo.
Enjoy, RT

Anybody else use a hypodermic needle with a zerk fitting on one end? I got one many years ago at an auto supply store. I don't know if they are still available.

To use it I just insert it thru the rubber boot and give a few squirts of grease every 25,000 miles. My '80 300SD has almost 250,000 miles and none of the suspension parts have been replaced except the steering damper.
