Depends on the car, how the bowden cable and modulator are adjusted, the age/condition of the trans and how well the vacuum system is working. Do a search on this there is lots of info. I have a short shift 2-3 that I cannot improve so I learned to drive around it. I accelerate moderately in 1st when the shift to 2nd happens I then give it more pedal to stretch out the length of time in 2nd. RT

I push the pedal down and then ease back on it when I feel it's time to shift. This also softens the shifts up too, letting back on the pedal when it shifts.

Seems to me that there should be some recommended speed that you could set the Bowden cables and the vacuum so that the car would shift at into second and third at.
Maybe MB doesn't have those figures. That is where one usually starts at with most cars. Then you change the kick down and vacuum to suit your needs. |
