I do agree with you about the EGR.. While I do not seem to like the idea I can not see that I am doing any thing if I take it off... I do have to wonder in my mind if some of the air from the turbo is not going the other way When the engine is cold.... Adding air to the CAT.. and making it warm faster by adding air from the turbo thru the EGR .... That may explain the big difference in performance after the engine gets up to temp.. About the time it gets to temp you can feel the turbo kick in as if it were doing nothing before.. ...

I am glad to hear that chasing down the tac thing did help some one.. One real problem I am having with the 85 Car is that I can find little from Mercedes about what they did as far as changes on the 123 Cars after about 82... While the body and engine seem to have stayed the same there were changes made to the SMOG stuff that I do not understand yet ... And I can not find any of them in writing... The tac thing drove me crazy... On my 79 SD the tac was ran from the pickup on the front of the engine.. thru the plug that is used by the shop to check the engine.. there was a plug in adaptor to make the tac work... The 85 123 has the same pickup on the front running to the plug.. But no adaptor.. The Tac is run thru the EGR system and the Pickup is in the Injection pump I guess..

I sure understand about the not being able to see stuff.. I have to wear two pair glasses to see to do close work.. And do not even try to see any thing a few feet away when wearing them to work .. Makes you dizzy..
