600 Series MB?

I was watching The Witches of Eastwick this weekend & noticed the car Jack Nicholson was driving. It was a really cool looking, probably 60's or early 70's Benz, I think the number on the back was 600. Does anyone have any info on this car? Was it a diesel or just a gasser?

Thanks!

It is a gas car. It was produced from the 60's (forgot exact year) to 1981. They only made 2400 or so of them during all those years. They were completely hand built and VERY expensive to repair. The windows didn't electric motors, but rather hydraulic. These are highly prized cars.

Thanks Rick! That fits pretty well with the character he was playing, too.

The 600 series was the limo -- came in two version, short and long wheelbase, the long had six doors and seated something like 8 people. Often had a divider between the front and back, etc.

Quite rare, I've only seen one up close at the local benz dealer twenty or more years ago -- the rest on the Autobahn in Germany blasting past our Toyota.

Made from 63 to 81, all with the 6.3L M100 engine and auto trans. Pretty spiff for 1963.....!

Dead ringer for a Zil from the same era except for the grill.
