What do you think about window tint?

Just wanted to know what you think of window tint?

Do you like to block the suns rays?

Or, don't like it because it isn't a factory item?

I like the idea of tint, but too much can be a bad thing! I tinted the windows on my Super Duty too dark, now I have to roll the windows down when I back my trailer at night

Window tint is a God Send in the hot climate of Houston. I tinted the windows on my silver one about a year and a half ago and it made a huge difference. I plan on tinting my other one before summer comes around.

I love the stuff. Makes it great for giving the A/C a break keeping the car cooler. Not only that, but it makes it tougher for prying eyes to inspect the interior of your car.

I hate window tint, because it makes it harder for me to see other drivers, and their reactions. The lighter stuff which most people don't like to use I can live with.

I do however LOVE window tint on larger SUV's when it's in the rear and not on the front windows. This is mostly because it helps with the A/C.

I got my '80 300Sd done and I love it. The car is biege and the installer suggested a Tan tint instead of the blue. So that's what I got.

I want to get my 300SDL done in the spring. It is maroon so I will probably get the darker tint.

I would like to see photo gray glass in cars. It would get dark in the bright sun but no tint at night for better visibility.

TX,

Probably too expensive.

The Maybach has something similar to photogray glass in the sun roof but it is electronic.

My eyes are blue and they are sensitive to light, so I like to have window tint. I have fully metalic window tint on my coupe. Its really nice. I have 38% front, 5% eyebrow, 18% rear.

I got my car tinted with a smoked-gray light tinting. I love the way it looks, I believe it also offers better impact shatter protection, it keeps the sun out of my one year old daughters eyes, and it preserves the interior.
If you do it, just go to reputable place that has a good gaurantee nationwide.
have fun, Adam

Love the stuff. My car is done with 95% limo and you can't see in at all. I can see out fine, even at night. There are a couple of different kinds of tint. What you want is the titanium kind. The cheap stuff will turn purple on you and is next to impossible to see through at night. Titanium will not fade or change colors and won't bubble up like the cheap stuff. Keeps the car cooler and saves the interior.

I love window tint. I actually got my windows in the CD tinted last Thursday after 2 months of not having tint. It makes a huge difference in the temperature not to mention it looks very good on certain cars. I got mine tinted very dark in the back and a heavy medium darkness in the front. Everybody in my family has tint because it is so useful. The majority of why we have it is so the interior of our Benzes don't fade any worse than they are and so the dash doesn't crack. That's also why we use sunshades.

-Jamie

P.S. I'm putting pictures of my car with window tint up on the site in my sig. so ya'll can see the difference, maybe later tonight.

Whatever you do pay the extra money for quality metalized tint. The cheap stuff is just dyed film that turns purple and looks crappy. The metalized stuff reflects more radiation even at the higher "light transmission percentages" so the car stays cooler, its easier on the eyes and easier to see at night. I prefer grey or smoke tint. RT

My car has a fairly dark blue tint on all the windows except the windshield, of course. It was like that when I bought it. I like the fact that it stays cool in the hot Los Angeles weather and that it's hard to see in the car at night if I am out and it's parked somewhere. It could also be the reason my interior is in such good shape. Fortunately I'ts not so dark that I have any problems seeing, it seems fine...so I guess my vote is FOR tint.
