Well, I hate to do it, but I have to sell my 300D. Bought wife an SL and now her 190E 5spd goes to daughter and daughters' 300D is surplus. Car is just too slow off line for traffic around here. I bought it cheap, spent some bucks and knuckles on it and I'll sell it cheap. General info: 1983 300D
turbo. Battleship gray with black MBtex interior.
367k miles. Cruise control does not work, I think everything else does. A/C has been converted to R134a or whatever it's called and you probably should plan on dumping in a car of gas a year. Air will get plenty cold on the highway. Body is fairly rough. I'll grab my digital camera and shoot some pictures if it ever stops raining around here. Engine has new timing chain and upper rails. Yeah, the tensioner rail had some serious grooves in it. Doesn't like to idle when cold for first couple of minutes. Biggest pita is it leaks water into the trunk and passenger compartment. Just started looking for source and I can see water dripping down in trunk from just below corners of rear window so that is my best guess for leak. Tires are ok-to-good. Pirellis I think. Handle pretty good (I think I went wider with proper reduction in aspect ratio to maintain speedo). Probably needs a new tranny mount as it can vibrate/thump pretty good under load. Only on web site like this would ya try to sell a car by talking about all of its problems. I figured if there was anyone who would understand this car, they would be here. Car is located in Cincinnati area (N. Ky. actually). Price $525. You can email me at:
bkappes@fuse.net. I hate to give up the diesel, but we have three drivers, 4 Benzs and two trucks. Heck, I'm running out of parking space!
