300TD Transmission Question
Hello, I have a 1980 300TD wagon. It has been running great until today. The transmission seems to be slipping in 2nd and 3rd. If you shift down, the car does fine, and you can get up to speed, but if you just leave it in drive, it stuggles in those 2 gears. I was wondering if anyone knew what would be wrong in this case. Please help.

How long have you had it ?
What maintenance have you done to it ? Do you have a shop manual or Haynes manual ? Have you checked to see if you have a vacuum modulator on it ? If you have a vacuum modulator have you checked the vacuum lines going to it ? Have you checked your vacuum pump output ? Have you done a search to see what has been written already about your transmission ? Describe the symptoms which make you use the word "slipping" . Does the engine rpm increase at the same time you feel a lack of acceleration ? |

This is exactly what is happening in 2nd and 3rd gears. I wasn't able to find other information on the site. All fluids are good. We have had the car for about 2 months. |
