Navy blue ext with Grey int, 300CD, does it exist?
I really like my dark blue 84 300D, but I'm thinking of finding it in a coupe instead of sedan. While the palomino interior looks kind of nice with the wood, I prefer the grey interior like my 83 300D has. However I have never seen the combination of both, does it exist? In a 1983 coupe?
Thanks, Jeff M.

Does it exist? Hmm, not too sure. I myself have never seen one. I've only seen dark blue with Creme-Beige, Palomino, Blue and Black. But you never know. I once saw a rare combination of Anthricite Grey and Grey Leather.... But Mercedes has always been open to optioning colors. If you have to get the combination, you would have to wait.... and pay.

Oooh you have seen blue and black? I would settle for that. I guess I really like blue exterior, grey is ok, brown is blah. Yea I figured it would be pretty hard to find, I don't know.
I would like to either get mine like new inside or just sell it and buy one that has been babied it's entire life. The front seats were trash, quite an accomplishment to be able to ruin mb-tex.... I really should take it to the stealership and see where the oil leak is. It is coming up on a fork in the road, to the left is to spend so much on it that it is like a brand new 84, to the right we part. Just have to decide which way to go.... Jeff M.

BoostnBenz,
I just checked my old ordering catalogs for all German home market Mercedes-Benz automobiles in the model year 1984, and the color grey (code 058 for cloth, 158 for MB-Tex, 258 for leather and 958 for velour) is not a standard color available for the W123 200D through 280CE. Grey as an interior color is specifically excluded from those cars in the catalog, being "reserved" for the "S," "SEC" and "SL" models. The 300D Turbodiesel was not a car sold in Europe though, and these catalogs are for German cars, not US models so it may be possible that such a combination was available for the US 300D Turbodiesel or the 300CD Turbodiesel. The grey upholstery is listed as a recommended color combination with a dark blue (904) exterior, so on cars where it was available it is likely a color combination that was built. As a matter of fact, any blue exterior is a recommended or suggested color with a grey interior. So, while it is unlikely the combination was produced as a standard W123 vehicle outfitting that was sold off the showroom floor, it is feasible that a special order could have been placed for such a vehicle in the US. Good luck on your search though, Jim

Thanks Jim. I was thinking about getting one of those sales brochures, actually I just looked while replying and there is one on ebay right now. Even if I don't find the color scheme, I think the 1983 brochure will make it a little more interesting that I have the factory sticker as well for my 1983.

I don't think i've EVER seen a U.S. spec 123 with a grey interior. I bet it's the proverbial needle in the haystack.
Although a medium blue euro 300D with a grey velour interior, 5-speed, front power windows and front heated seats sounds nice |

Has anyone seen a blue exterior with black interior?
Yea that does sound nice, they would heat velour? I haven't ever seen heated velour seats before they normally want you to buy leather then upgrade to heated leather.... Jeff M.
