Amazing ground clearance..

With my parents having an extremely loud arguement of some sort, and myself wanting to get out of the parking lot as quickly as possible, I accidently drove over one of those parking curbs in front of my car. Man...th W123 has some serious ground clearance. I went over that bad boy in a way reminiscent to the Unimogs in the Paris Dakar rally. I later cut a turn extremely tight in my quest to get home as quickly as possible, as my parents duked it out about some sandwich bread and my back wheel went over the curb. God....parents can be so stressful. Driving with each one of them alone is a joy...but together is an extremely stressful experience....my full licensce is so close...no more of them anymore...and no more folk CDs....

The other day we had some snow on the ground and I completely biffed a curb. Drove right over it and thought I'd trashed the underneath.

Can't find any evidence of it however.

Too bad on the parent deal.

It does have quite a ground clearance! probably the reason why it rolls so much in the corners.

However I like it this way. It's definitely 'easier' to live with.

Unfortumnately, Unimog driven for Team Orlen (hmmm... German car driven by a German driver with Polish co-driver for the Polish team! God has some sense of humor...) got 3 minute penalty on the 4th stage and fell from 4th to 8th

But Dabrowski (also Team Orlen) on a KTM motorcycle maintains 7th.

Go guys go!
BTW- love the way these diesels jump over the dunes!

Also saw a wild-colored white/blue/yellow ML on the Dakar TV coverage but they didn't talk about it at all.

I too have noticed the ground clearance in my 300CD, I have noticed that it helps when going through snow.

these cars will bottom out if pushed hard enough though, found that one out the hard way. Slammed the front end into the ground going into a parking lot waaaaay to fast, i anticipated it to be a nice shallow grade down and it turned out it went down halfway, then there was a sidewalk(bottomed out on the sidewalk) and then after that it completely flattened out into the parkin lot. Whoever designed that entrance should be shot. Put a HUGE dent in my lower oil pan(luckily isn't leaking). If i ever want to sell the car i'll have to repalce it though.....

Ah

Nice to no I am not the only one to run over curbs...I feel like such a moron and I want to bash the wheel. I sometimes make my turns to tight when under stress (IE parents)

These things happen... I once bottomed out on this road, dented and scaped the oil pan, milimeters from failing. Anything else, it would have jolted the motor out its mounts, crushing the oil pan, possiblt ceasing the motor. Strong cars those 123s...

Yeah, I managed to scrape the oil pan... I've replaced it though. It's got a lot of ground clearance however I would never hit speed bumps or the train tracks fast anymore...
