Here's a conversion for the diesel lovers
Met an old timer today at the MB dealer in Chandler, AZ. We got to talking cars while the partsman checked stock on a new windshield for the 560. This old timer has almost finished his latest conversion - planting a 300 turbo into, now get this, a W107. No pictures, and I didn't see the car, but to listen to this old timer I could tell he knew what he was talking about.
He was driving an 84 300D that has nearly 300K and he was rather proud of his transplant. He also mentioned he has a friend who is in the process of transplanting a 300 turbo into an SEC, now that would be a truely cool diesel coupe.

Cool
Dumb question, but the 107's the convertible from the '70's and early '80's, right?

try this for information:www.home.hiwaay.net/~gbf/mbmodels.html.
My only objection would be that the 300 turbo engine puts out less power than even the 380SL, and it was considered to be too slow for that type of car. I just got a 560SL for my wife, and believe me, it's a FAST car. |
