How do I know if it is bad on my 1983 300SD? Reading one of the previous posts about getting it replaced free by a recall got me wondering. Should I visit my local dealer and find out what has been recalled and what is supposed to be replaced by MB? How long is the list? I have had the car for a while and have been doing my own work on it for years. What are your experiences?

I do believe the trap oxidizers were on 1987 model 300sdl's. California 617 models got them in ?1984 or 85. Clearly, a 1983 model is safe.

Thank you for the information that is one less thing to be concerned about. Do you know of anything else that may apply to the 1983 SD that MD is obligated to repair?

I'm not aware of anything...

But, I'm not as W126 familar as W124/W123.
