The power steering fluid reservoir is atop the pump and is at the drivers side front of the engine in almost all MB models. There is a large plastic thumbnut that you loosen with your hands. Once the nut is loose, pull up on the round cover underneath it until it pops loose, then completely remove the nut and cover. The fluid should be up to the white plastic piece in the very center of the circular reservoir.

If it is low, get some Power Steering Fluid from the auto parts store. Do not use ATF. ATF has drastically changed in the last few years and will ruin the seals in the power steering system. The PS fluid is more expensive than ATF, but the system requires a small quantity.

Good luck,

So that means I should stop using ATF on my 300CD, so should I be using the stuff meant for the newer MB's?
