1985 300sd
Need some advice.
I recently came across a 1985 300 SD with 269,000 miles for sale by original owner who claims the car is mint, with the exception of 2 small dashboard cracks and some wear on the front seats. He has all service records and says I will not be dissapointed. The car is Black with Grey leather, new tires, ac redone 2 years ago and factory repaint about 4 years ago. The gentleman is in Orlando, I am in Miami and would strangel him if it is not as advertised Seriously, the car looks great and can be had for about $4000.00 -$4500.00 Any thoughts? Thanks 1983 240D 80,000 miles and sweet...... |

Just the usual...
If he is that serious about the quality of the car he won't mind you having a mechanic check it out. It can be well worth the 100 to 150 to have a professional do a thorough check out of the vehicle.
Look for blowby/compression issues and the other usual things like front end problems, signs of rust, etc... Good luck. You can check the shop recommendation forum here to see if there is anyone in Orlando that has a good review.

I don't think the service department of a dealership will take in a car for a repaint unless it's warranty work or part of a repair. And at that they probably farm it out. Of course top quality paint jobs are available. Sixto 91 300SE 87 300SDL 83 300SD |
