PROBLEM SOLVED 1987 300TD A/C

87 300TD WAGON A/C was intermittent. Powering down would restart system. Had narrowed the problem down to compressor speed signal. Was about to dive into the Klima relay bypass and decided to check air gap on clutch. The hold down nut on the clutch was loose and gap was ~.80mm. Tightened the nut - rechecked gap now ~.35mm. System works perfect now. Compressor is a 2 year old Denso so I didn"t suspect any issue there. W124 owners with suspected Klima issues....Check that clutch gap !

Good show! Sometimes what appears to be a big project, turns out to be a simple and free fix!
