Diesel Coming to Canada
Hi Guys,
I just received word that we are getting the E320 Diesel in Canada. It will start to arrive in September of this year as a 2004 model. This will definately help reclaim some lost sales for Mercedes-Benz. This is great news for us in Canada. Could you please tell me if you will also get this model in the US? |

from a few weeks ago:
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?threadid=54059 "The German luxury-auto maker said it will start selling a diesel version of its E-Class sedan in the U.S. in 2004. The turbocharged car, to be sold as a 2005 model-year vehicle, will average 34 miles a gallon, an improvement of more than 20% from the comparable gasoline version, the company said." |

That sounds like some very good news. I sat along with a Texas oil refinery engineer last week on an airplane ride. Asked about the low sulpher diesel fuel. He said for the medium sized refinery it will cost $20 million to install the machinery to refine the fuel to meet the new standards. I take it it is an involved process. He was interested in the news about the newer diesel engines with the TDI technology. Said he could see why they would need lower sulpher content to run.

I saw on the news the other day that the Jeep Liberty will be available with a diesel, next year I think they said. Maybe that is leading up to making diesel MB's available.
