Well, we got the girlfriend's new '82 300D a couple of nights ago! It's a great running car...paint is only a couple of years old, and the body is VERY straight! Makes me in even more of hurry to get mine smoothed out and painted! Has about 235,000 miles on it.

We got the car from my new "best friend"...hahaha

...a great used-parts guy here in Atlanta that I've posted about before in the "parts" forum...Chris Fett. It was his wife's car, and has been very well taken care of. I can't find any rust anywhere, and before we picked it up, he replaced the ailing injection pump, put in fresh glow plugs, oil cooler lines, good Michelin tires, and a new starter. Starts and runs like a champ! The tranny shifts a little hard sometimes, maybe I can adjust that to be a little milder sometime soon. The ACC works fine (for now--*fingers crossed*), antenna, sunroof, locks, windows all work...don't know about the cruise. I'm normally not a fan of tinted windows, but I think it looks good on this car, with the very dark blue paint, and the girlfriend likes them, so...

We spent today giving it a major detailing, and I showed her what all the buttons do, where and when to check all the fluids, etc...She's pretty familiar already, from being around my car for two years.

There's only a couple of things I need to do to it. Both corners of the wood trim have fallen off but they are in the glove box and in good shape, so I need to glue those back on...I have to install her JVC CD player in it, because the old Becker cassette just will not do.

Tachometer doesn't work, of course...neither does mine. It has the usual cracking on the dash, but it's not bad...we'll probably get a cover for it eventually.

Also, the sunroof was apparently painted shut when they painted the car a couple of years ago, and I guess his wife never used it, so they didn't ever deal with it. I had to use an x-acto knife today to cut it loose...Works fine now, but I hacked up the felt strips a little...We'll have to get some new ones, but it's OK for now.

I got several stickers at the excellent get-together Donnie and el presidente hosted at MB Autowerks a while back...but you can get them thru mercedesshop.com too.

nice blue color ..

i'm a big fan of that particular color which seems to be sort of rare these days at least here in the northeast

Yeah, I don't see a lot of dark blue ones either. It's a great color...looks black at night!

I forget exactly when and how I got the first one, that I put on my car...I think there was a post about them long ago...Can someone else help him out here? Maybe if you just e-mail Donnie or Bill, they can hook you up.
