Considering 1997 300D
This is a beautiful car. It is navy with black leather. It has CD changer and fog lights. These are the only options I noticed. It is very clean and looks well mantained. The only thing imperfect is the headliner above the drivers seat that is yellow from cigarette tar...makes me wonder about the PO's lungs!!
It was an MB Finance Corp off lease purchase at Manheim Auto Auction, PA. It has 80K and no records. The dealership is asking $24.5K. The price sounds high to me, but was wondering what you guys thought. NADA and KBB put it at about $22K. All thoughts appreciated. Thanks.

First of all fog lights are standard on all 210 models, actually all models I know of beginning with the 123's.
Second, these are basically good cars, my concern would be the lack of records and the price. If you can get the price down where it should be and confirm that the car is currently in sound condition by having a professional inspection, then it might be okay. Good luck, |

97 e300
slowmoe, we had a pretty good discussion of price for these vehicles last week on this forum if you want to check it out.
good luck finding one in good shape for less than the nada price. these things are bringing CRAZY money in my area. if i wasn't so in love with my 98e300, i could make some good money on it. |

Too much, IMO. I know a local dealer has a white 96 with heated seats, ~90k miles and he will take ~$17k.. still too much for me.. i'm looking for a steal if I buy one.

A fellow in Richmond VA, today, sold his 97 E300 with 108000 miles for 14000 dollars. How do I know? I tried to buy it. I could not get to Richmond until Saturday to get the car and a local fellow got the car. The car had been to the MB dealer all its life and the owner had changed oil every 5k. He had the records to prove it. He just would not hold the car. He told me that 14k was a lot more than the dealer would give him on trade because of the "high" miles. He also stated he was very happy with 14K.
I have got to stop working so I can have fun. Have a great day Paul 1999 E300DT 89000 |

Yea,
My buddy purchased a 1998 from the dealer, starmarked for less than 24.5k. The mileage was around 60k( I believe). That was in Houston a couple weeks ago. Michael

Too much!
The local dealer here had a 1997 fully loaded with 110K miles for $16,500 and all records. It was bought and serviced at this dealership.

That price is too high...you should be able to get a very clean 1998 turbo model for that amount of money..one that has records even..lol
Although any MB dealer should be able to tell you about the history..up at least until 50K anyway and maybe more if the owner took it after the warranty period......but since the car is at the Manheim..sometimes those cars are the ones that didn't get scooped up by the MB dealers..sometimes for a very good reason but I do agree about some of prices for 90's diesels I have seen..almost as if the cars have appreciated..lol Sometimes I see the individuals speak to the "uniqueness" and rarity of the car right abouve where thay post a ridiculous asking price I have seen a couple of 300D 2.5's where I wondered if the Owner was at all realistic considering the asking price...saw one the other day 1992 with 200K and the asking price was 12K....LOL I thought to myself "good luck" Warren 1992 300SD 160K Columbus Ohio |
