Unhappy This is sickening...

Here is one way to ruin a 300D that otherwise would probably have been perfect...

That's one neat looking 300D, I wonder if they have a device that will make the diesel clatter and exhaust. That car makes a total sleeper, and probally beat a lot of people.

A friend of a friend of a friend has old 250C, with a 302 Ford in it. It's a nice looking car, and I think the guy is wanting $6,000 for it.

I gotta admit I LIKE it!

C'mon Warden,
The motor likely went south and faced with the cost of a MB they through in the easiest and cheapest to work on engine in the world-the smallblock chevy! Looks like they retained the ACC..... You might even be able to sneak by emissions testing as it says diesel on the title and the rear deck! Motor needs to be bigger though. Like a 383 stroker with 425hp on tap. That'll get the attention of the Hondaboys laughing at the diesels!

Horrible stuff. Those engine compartment pictures will haunt me for quite some time.

Yikes! It just ain't right. A 350 diesel would be at least a foundational improvement over the gas chevy. Excuse me, I need some air!

I'd love to see the look on the face of the local MB shop mechanics when they pop up the hood to work on it.

...I think I like it....I mean, not in the way I like my diesel(s)...but oh man, with some work and a few tricks, maybe a big 'ol lumpy cam and some big pipes and oh, I don't know, a great big bottle of nitrous with a big-a__ red button on the console......you could smoke a whole lot of unsuspecting toy cars with something other than soot! Hey, for the right price, I could park that next to the other one.... Could always part it out later... f

Great, so they got rid of the best, most lasting part of the car (diesel engine) and kept the absolute WORST, most unreliable part (the Automatic Climate Control crap)! That doesn't strike me as the smartest thing to do...or am I nuts? :p

I don't see how it would make a good "sleeper" at the stoplights either...the distinct lack of the diesel's KLATTA KLATTA KLATTA coming from under the hood is a dead giveaway to diesel-haters that something strange is going on!

Hahaha...I just read the seller's description...

He says it's a Mercedes with the power and RELIABILITY of a Chevrolet! Does this crack anyone else up? I'm LMAO!! Removing a Mercedes 5-cyl. diesel for the "reliability" of a Chevy!

It also says the mileage on the odo. is 127,000-ish...Which is very LOW for a diesel engine, which means either they were COMPLETELY insane when they removed a perfectly young and good-running diesel engine, or it was abused and neglected, which makes it likely that the rest of the car is going to be junk.

Humor and nose-in-the-air indignation aside...It still would probably be fun to drive for a little while! Now if he had put a MANUAL TRANSMISSION in there too! Woohoo! THAT would be something to talk about!

Given that I'm a Ford/Dodge guy with a strong distate for g@$$ers, my reaction was little different...

And yes, the 300D would be a decent sleeper, although I can think of other methods (I want a '59 Cadillac wagon with a Hemi only g@$$er that I'm readily willing to own) that wouldn't require the sacrifice of a diesel.

1sttimer, the sad thing there is that the armrest in that picture is in considerably better shape than the one in my car. WHen time and $$ allow, I need to redo all of the upholstry...preferably in cloth
