Thumbs up Hey, this Seafoam stuff works pretty good

Hello Folks,

I went and got everything that I need to change the oil in my 240D and thought I might just try some of that Seafoam stuff. I figured since I was going to change the oil in the morning what could it hurt?

I poured 8 ounces into the oil fill hole and fired her up. She ran great, as usual. Well, since Seafoam can be used in the fuel I poured the remaining 8 ounces into a half tank of fuel and drove her on a 60 mile trip tonight and noticed some positve differences in the performance of the car. She didn't bogg down as bad as she usually does going up a slight hill and she didn't smoke nearly as bad. In fact, I had to floor her to make her smoke!!! No exagerating! I am pretty impressed. Well, I am impressed. The pretty part is up for debate I am sure.

Have any of you guys had good results from Seafoam or is it a fluke and I am just psycologically fooled?

Oilslick

I have heard great stuff about the Seafoam stuff, and tried the transmission stuff before. I think the next oil change I am going to try some of the flush, then maybe try the additive.

Seafoam's worked great for my truck thus far. I've only needed to change the Benz's oil a couple of times, and while it seems a bit cleaner, the next couple of oil changes will tell the tale.

I haven't tried it in the fuel, yet...I should someday

Where are you buying it? I have looked at Auto Zone, and Pep Boys.
Thank you.

It's supposed to clean the gunk out of your oil galleries and such.

So, what, you put it in, drive a while, then change the oil and filter?

Why not just use Mobil 1 Oil

I had the Timing Chain done on my 92 400E at ~110K mi. They took the pan off and the valve covers as well. They noted that the engine looked like it was brand new on the inside. No buildup of any kind whatsoever. I've always used Mobil1 and changed the oil accordingly. I noticed that most of the respondents here were diesel, but mightn't Mobil1 keep a diesel running cleaner also?.....you know what they say, an ounce of prevention is worth a ton of cure.

I would use Mobile 1, but I have some bad oil leaks that need to be fixed. So I am going to use the Seafoam stuff for a while, I might use Mobile 1 next winter, if I can get my oil leaks fixed by then.

Exclamation Clean engine -

You should try Rotella T 15-40 if you are using. dino.oil. It seems to have about the best cleaning additives available in dino. oil. It was recommended to me by a national service manager of a truck diesel engine manufacturer about a yaer ago. I then checked with some truck dealers that I was calling on at the time and they all said that it was a great oil with good cleaning abilities. It took about 3 oil changes (at 3000 mi) before the engine oil looked a lot cleaner.
