What's my 300CD worth?

I have been debating on if I want to sell my 1979 300CD, but I am no idea on how much to ask. I am starting to want something a little bigger, most likely a 240D.

The car has 166,500 miles, and seems to have decent compression and a rebuilt transmission. Everything is pretty good shape, but the gaskets around the windows probally should be replaced sometime. The paint is cracked on the hood and trunk, and right above the sunroof. The interior is in ok condition, with the normal wear these cars have. The AC doesn't work, and the A/C servo still works, but sometimes it acts up and either blows out very hot air, and sometimes not work at all. I am thinking of asking $2500, which is how much I paid for it a few years ago. That is probally too much, does $2,000 sound like a better asking price?

$2000's fair, or maybe even $1750...if I were in the market for a car, that's about what I'd feel happy paying for. I paid $2000 (for all practical purposes) for my car, and it's in pretty good shape overall...

OTOH, if you really want to get rid of it, my girlfriend needs a car and wants a diesel Benz...in all honesty, though, I'm pretty sure she couldn't meet the asking price.

Bill, my wood is in good condition, and yes, it is the rare burled walnut. There are a few places where the finished is cracked, and it is cracked around the acc controls, but it isn't that noticeable. I think my car was a European Delivery car too, so I wonder if that would add the value any. The interior is also somewhat rare, since I haven't seen many cars with the Tobacco interior.

The thing I am worried about is the rust spots where the paint has cracked, but it doesn't show because the rust is almost the same shade as the Milan Brown paint.

Always remember you can always go done when dealing on a car but never up. I would start at 2800 obo and go from there.

That reminds me, the drivers seat's springs are in good shape, but the passenger seat slopes a little. I am thinking that $2800 might be a good asking price, because I am sure someone will try talking be down some. If I do sell the car, I am hoping to sell it for enough so I can buy a 240D, and have enough money left over to do most of the repairs that it will need.

Why don't you look on AutoTrader and compare? Prices for CD's seem to be holding well. I know that every penny I put into my '85 CD makes the value go up. I've seen some on there for $15,000. Not sure I'd pay that much, but some will. That was also the last year of the famous W123, so prices may be higher.

The crack is in the back of the a/c servo, so I can probally trick someone into thinking it is still good

I just looked at the a/c servo a little closer, and it doesn't look like it is leaking from crack. Instead it looks like it has been leaking from the hose where it has been leaking for a while . I replaced that hose last week, but when I popped the hood today, there was a huge puddle of coolant . I am going to tighten the hose again, and see if I can stop the leak
