84 300SD engine needed, North Carolina
Hey,
A friend of a friend needs a new engine in their 84 300SD. They owned it since new and has over 300,000 miles. Don't have any more specifics then it "blew" and needs a new engine. Anyone have a parts car or engine in the North Carolina area? Also, if anyone can recommend a known good mechanic to do the swap in the area, that would be great! Thanks much...... -m

If I owned a 300SD from the time it was new until the time the engine blew up (over 300K in their case), I think I would treat the car to a factory rebuilt engine from MB rather than a used one from a donor car. You might just drop that idea by them and see what they say. Remember, the warranty on a factory reman engine is 4 years/48K miles.

They can try Metric Motors. They are a well-known re-builder of Mercedes engines.
Here is a link to the page that shows the engines they sell and the cost: http://www.mercedesengines.net/300s.htm The warranty for that year engine is 4 years or 50,000 miles.

I just installed a 380SE gas V8 that was built by Metric Motors. They did an OUTSTANDING job on the engine. It looked and ran beautifull!!. The Diesels that they do have even a rebuilt inj. pump. Call them... All they do is MBZ engines ONLY! The customer service was tops. Chris
