question for folks with 'grease' conversions

Hi,

I just got my conversion kit from neoteric biofuels so I can run WVO in my 300D. I am really excited. However, since the kits go into all osrts of different cars, there are no suggestions for instalation into a w123 specifically.
I would like to know from those of you who have installed dualtank heated cnversions, where did you mount the various parts? Specifically, the inline heater (if you have one), the inline filter, the switching valve, and the toggle switch.
Also, how do you keep the second tank in the trunk without it shifting?

Any info/advice/considerations would be appreciated. Thanks very much,

JMH

I've not bought the kit yet but have started with used motor oil and will be dumping in filtered WVO soon. Straight up.

I'm wondering if you found a cheaper buy than the one on greasel.com.

If you don't mind posting how much the kit was and what size tank you ended up with, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

Don

Just beware of the viscosity. The pumps in these cars are about the best youll find for such 'conversions' but the viscosity is still high, and needs a petro additive to lower it enough to work well in all climates...

I'm wondering if you found a cheaper buy than the one on greasel.com.

I have the neoteric kit (www.biofuels.ca) I got it before the price increase, it was $199+$30 shipping from BC, Canada. I got mine without tank and tubing, and got pretty good savings. Pay with a money order instead of CC and they give you a discount...

I like that kit because the heater is electric. I would rather have an electric heater than a coolant heater. Sure, maybe its not as efficient as using waste heat, but, there is no splicing into coolant lines, no chance of pressurized coolant to wvo lines rupturing and flooding anything or loosing my coolant on the roadway, no chance of an in-tank heater springing a leak and diluting my VO fuel and killing my car. Price was the main issue for this kit though, I saved a lot over the other kits. As far as I can tell, the kit will heat up the VO just as well as any coolant based kit... especially if I run the WVO line through the cabin under the floor lats.
Also, supposedly the valve is a little more robust and better quality than other kits, and the filter, although it cant be taken apart like te racor in most kits, is plumbed inline, like a giant prefilter that we have on these cars. I personally liek that better, I cant see myself taking a small, delcate filter apart on the side of the road at night so I can get WVO to work.

If you don't mind posting how much the kit was and what size tank you ended up with, I'd appreciate it.

Price was $199 + $30 UPS shipping from BC, Canada. I bought the tank at a marine store, I got a 6-gallon one, so I would save space in the trunk. I figure if I got a bigger one, then its always there hogging trunk space, so if I have a lot of cargo, I have a problem. With a 6 gallon tank, it fits under where my cd changer is mounted (I dont usually put bags there anyway), and if I want more supply, and dont have a lot of cargo, I can bring a regular fuel carrier with an addititonal 5-6 gals along...

Hope this helps,

JMH
