callin for vacuum line help ' 82 300TD

Hey board:

By the way- thank you for all the support and great suggestions/ comments extended so far. appreciations go out to all.

Ok - I just replaced the vacuum booster line - the one that goes from master cylndr to front of engine.

2 vacuum lines run off this
on the second outlet from the firewall this line goes to a 3 way and then down to a Y - it is this junction that I have a vacuum line just hanging loose- no clue where it goes

Anybody got a clue/ idea/ suggestion for help here

please and thanks

Peace

what color is the line?

I could probably tell you if I had my 84 at work with me, but if you know the color of the line, you can probably find out where it should be attached from the diagram in the book or on the front of the chasis near the radiator.

got a look at the vacuum line/ rusted fuel line UGGG.

thanks for everything so far.
Dieseldiehard:

Good news- the vacuum line is BLACK with a WHITE stripe

I have no scematic on the front of my engine bay to tell me where the vacuum lines go - the end has a slip fitting on it so I believe it goes somewhere that requires vacuum

A little out of sorts here at present. I have to replace the steel fuel line ( s ) that run under the carriage / rear suspension drivers side. i pulled into the garage last night to take out the injectors- got those tested at MIDWEST FUEL INJECTION- 9$/piece plus a few incidentals- 49.0 + change........ all good though ( good news right ) came back to install them and I see a puddle around the drivers rear tire- was praying it was hydralic fluid- nope the fuel lines gotta de cancer.

Big question: replace ( where do I look for those )
repair ( not really cool on the idea of joining a fuel line with compression fittings ??!!
repair with a rubber line- I stop there cause I really dont want to think about this

Anyone replace one of these and can tell me there experience

Ok thanks for listening and lending some direction

have a great weekend all- I gotta find some fuel lines- preferably stainless steel

Peace:

if nobody answers by tomorrow, I will look where

my black and white line goes.

With regard to the fuel line, I hesitate to say it, but for small sections, wouldn't quality MB fuel line be sorta acceptable for short term repair?

The stuff is really thick, and they use it inside the engine compartment....

It would buy you enough time to locate a donor in a yard...

Plug it until you figure out where....

it goes...I have played with these lines so much and done ttoublrshooting with them and had the same problem...I am assuming the loose line is coming from the vacuum hose you replaced...

Check the Fuel Pump carefully--there are 3 places where it can connect --do you see the line with the Green Check valve? Look in that vicinity--also look to the left for a 3 inch round diaphragm with a small vacuum tap..

This is really stressing out my writing skills and lunch break..also look for the two purple lines running from the box on top of the cylinder head and the lines that run from the passenger side front of the engine...

What color is the line..

Do your Vacuum Locks work?

The black and white line goes to the Trunk booster tank

vacuum diagrams

I have a '82 240D. I just finished a vacuum repair job and found the vacuum routings on the ALLDATAdiy.com site for my vehicle type.
