EGR Question Re:85 300TDT
I read that you can gain 3mph by plugging the EGR. I tried it and it seems like I lost 3MPG. How can this be???

How did you plug it? I made a block-off plate that fits under the EGR valve to completely shut it down. Maybe yours is slightly stuck open? Either way disabling my EGR and Air Recirculation valve did not affect my fuel economy but the car runs noticeably better. RT

Intresting.. I had the same thing on my 85 TD Calif.. Better with the EGR working than with out.. It does better with the air reduction plugged.. plugged my at the valve over on the fender well.. Runs better at lower RPM but put the EGR back in service as it runs better with it..

I've tried it on two of my MBs. On one it greatly improved the operation of the car and on one it hampered it. Go figure.
