converting climate control 123 to manual HVAC controls
How hard would it be to convert a 1981 climate controlled 300TDt to 240D style manual HVAC controls? My climate control is on the blink and even if I fix it I'm not sure I like the MB logic of always having some defrosting in heat mode. My eyes dry out. Is the 240 system cable actuated or does it use diaprhams like the climate control cars?

Good luck if you undertake the conversion! More guts than I. I'm not 100% sure what is meant by the system in your post but the dual (Driver and Passenger) heater controls on a 240D are cable operated. On my 77 there is a slider lever that controls the flow of air to the floor or windshield or any position in between. There is also a slider lever that control the center vents. The center vents are either outside air or air conditioned air with the a/c on. Now if only there was an easy conversion to drop my 300SD engine into the 240D chassis w/the manual HVAC...ahhh cruising heaven.
