Hydro. Oil
More hydro. shock oil questions. What grade oil do I use. I am not familiar with this hydraulic oil business. I read the comment that said use only a mineral oil. Does that mean not a petroleum based oil? Thanks.

You are correct. Do NOT use petroleum oils or especially brake fluid. The mineral oil is made especially for suspension systems and is common to a variety of oddball cars (Bentley, Citroen, etc.) You MUST use only mineral based oil in your suspension system. I've not seen it in the usual big auto chains and have usually just ordered it from Fastlane or in a pinch gotten it from the dealer. It's not cheap but seldom needs to be replaced.

Thanks. I went to NAPA over the weekend and everything was petroleum based. I wonder how much of the difficulty with these systems is due to the seals going bad from the use of the wrong fluids.

Referred to as "suspension fluid" on Fastlane. Part L7070-97881. There price is about as good as I have seen.

Got it, thanks. Please excuse my detail focus. I have made enough mistakes by rushing in to a project and using the wrong parts, tools, etc. that the old adage "measure twice, cut once" has worked it's way into my DNA (hopefully).
