Do Glass Fuses Suck?

One of the first things I did after I bought my car was to replace my cruddy ceramic fuses with the newer-style GBC glass type. Scrubbed and lubed all of the contacts, repaired the cracked gasket material, and so on.

Now, the very first time I opened up the fuse box, I found that fuse Number 8 (blower motor) was blown. Since that time, I've replaced it at least 10 times in 8 months.

The last time it fried, I gave up and installed a cruddy used ceramic fuse back in its place. It's been a six weeks now and it hasn't quit!

Has anyone else experienced this? All my other glass fuses are fine and have never blown out once. I'm using the correct amperage, have clean contacts, etc.

Yes!

Tons of times! Glass fuses suck...cant handle the surge. I replaced with glass fuses, and now and then a fuse will randomly blow. I've replaced them all with ceramic fuses that ive gotten out of junkyard cars, and now everything is fine. Glass fuses are horrible.

In fact

My blower motor was doing exxact same thing, would run for a bit, then blow the glass fuse. I replaced with a ceramic, and it has been fine. Don't worry, just use the ceramic fuses. They look like they'd be worse than the glass, but they work very well.
