Shift Knob Replacement
I just got a wood shift knob from a salvage 123. It pulled off easily. Does anyone know how to remove the one on the car? I can't see any set screws or fasteners. I just want to find the correct removal method before I start twisting and turning.
Thanks. |
From what did it pull off easily? The shift knob is supposedly integral with the metal lever that extends through the console gate and threads into the shift mechanism.
I think that on a W123 you somehow lift the panel that contains the gate and window switches to access a lock nut so you can spin off the shift knob. Sixto 91 300SE 87 300SDL 83 300SD |
Sixto, thanks for the reply. Guess I goofed. I was in a local MB salvage yard getting a Hazard Flasher out of the center console of a 300D with a wood knob. I turned the knob and it seem to screw off the shift stick. I got it for $5. Guess I need to go back to the yard and buy the stick and reattach the knob before I tear up the one in the car.
Thanks for your help. |
