Are you sure the locknut is down as far as it will go? Once you looesen the cap, you should be able to turn the nut below it clockwise to make more adjustment room.

Good luck,

Hey Larry, I see in your signature that you're ASE certified !!

When did this happen?

What does 609 mean?

Anyway, at least you can fall back on a second job as a mechanic if things fall through the floor at your company...

609 is an automotive airconditioning system certification which allows you to purchase r-12.

Suganami,

There are 8 sections of the ASE Automotive Tests. Passing any one of them gets you basic certification. They give the tests twice a year. I passed three last fall, I'm registered for three more May 6 and then plan on the last two for this Fall. Once I have all 8 I'll be ASE Master. After that there is an Advanced Engine Performance certification that I plan on getting at that time.

I've wanted to do this for the heck of it for a long time. I also thought it might be useful if the company I work for puts the other foot in the grave.

Have a great day,

if the nuts are all the way down then it usually means that the valve is worn and going into the intake passage.
