Finaly it hapened

Hello everybody
Last night in front of my apartment in Queens NY somebody inteligent enough to be called animal stole my silver star.
In the previous treads i read of your unfortunate experience but i never felt the grief involvet until i experience one . It is not the fact i have to buy another, it is because of the unsafe sentiment it gives you. Now i will like to replace that with something less flashy , do i have any choice? Did MB give as any diferent design choice?
New models have something less imposing, that works with our models? 300 cd 1985
thank you guys

here in europe mercedes offers a little star button that people just insert into the hole after someone has robbed the big star. perhaps you could call a dealer in the U.K. and ask about it.

Too bad you folks don't have a concealed carry law. It would only require one of these punks to be taken care of to curtail such thievery considerably.

Good luck,

I think those are avilable here too. A fella at our GTG last month had one on his car. Not sure where he got it.
I'd look into the removable stars if mine gets ripped off.(Ok, maybe I'll buy one BEFORE it gets ripped off) These guys have them:

To me, it's just not a Benz without that star leading the way

Stars only cost about $16-18. Cheap enough to keep a spare around. It takes about a minute to install one. Certainly not worth killing anyone.
Better to spend your time agitating against the serious criminals with nuclear and chemical weapons.

Performance Products has the little plugs that go into the hole after the hood star is stolen. I am sure Phil can get them too...

IMHO...

I would replace the star with another one. As Kerry said, they're cheap enough and the odds for theft are pretty low, even in bad neighborhoods believe it or not. They're easy to replace. Just pop the hood and the old one will practically fall out from underneath. Plece the new one on and reach underneath and "twist" the base to lock it in.

Stolen star

Sorry about the star, I recently moved away from a neighborhood where some idiot tried to steal the trunk lid star four times, breaking it each time. It's not bad enough to have it stolen but imagine it broken each time. Guy had to have the IQ of a privete hedge.

When I had my first car, a Model "A" Ford Roadster, it had a beautiful Motometer radiator cap with a lighted thermometer. Each time I parked the car I removed the radiator cap. Maybe someone needs to come up with a Star that is quickly removed but only by the owner.

Ben

See my link above to Adsitco.com
But it's removable by anyone. Yah, maybe a star that's locked with a key, so only the owner can (easily) remove it.
