Ive adjusted the valves on every 300 car Ive owned (three now) at least once, and did them all the same.

Went to do my 240 for the first time, and had more issues that I could imagine.

First was getting the VC off, as while the 617 has more stuff up top, it unbolts/comes off more easily somehow...

Thread on that here:

Not hard, just different.

So then its time to turn the engine. 27mm socket of course, never on the PS pump, right??

Well, all three 617 engines I was able to easily slip a breaker bar from the top, get the socket in the pulley, and turn the engine from the top.

No dice on the 240, its much squeezier somehow.

And doing it from the bottom is impossible:

So remove the fan, right? Ugh, four 13mm bolts that Im completely blind to see.

Remove the shroud, right? Nope - not without removing the radiator top hose and the PS belt - its wider and there is no space.

And, somehow the pulley is deeper. On my three 617 cars, ive used the same breaker and socket I tried today. Had to get an extension.

So I put an extension on a ratchet, as I wasnt going to mess around with the lacking adjustability on a breaker bar.

It did wonders for my forearms...

One intake and two exhaust valves were tight. One intake was slightly loose so I just brought it a little tighter.

Its actually quite the hassle of a job. I didnt recall it being so on my 617 cars...
